We are delighted to announce that after 3 challenging and exhausting months of searching, Open Barbers have found a new, long-term venue which will be fully operational by Spring 2016. It’s spacious, it’s accessible, it’s affordable and it will be ours for at least 5 years!
We are not yet able to disclose the specific location of our new premises, more information will follow in the next couple of months, but we are very happy that the North London location is only half a mile to 2 stations, is on the edge of zones 1 and 2 and is level access throughout, meeting our three biggest criteria.
At the end of November 2015, we will launch a £25,000 Crowdfunder appeal to help us to raise enough funds for the set up and renovation costs, 75% of the total we need to get the building ready. The renovations will include building accessible toilet facilities, and a versatile private room for discrete haircuts and other uses.
We are excited about this opportunity to expand our social enterprise further, to collaborate more with others, and to create a full time nourishing social space for people to get a haircut, meet others, drink tea, read fanzines and feel refreshed and renewed.
