Hi,
I’m Rachael and I use she pronouns. I’ve been cutting hair since I was 16
(which is a while now!) when I completed my NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing at New
College, Nottingham. Since then I have worked as a mobile hairdresser alongside
employment at an Afro Caribbean Hair Salon in Nottingham where I developed my
skills in a range of styling, blow drying and braiding techniques. I have also
worked at Igloo and Harrods as a children’s hairdresser.

I enjoy working with all hair types, I am a self-identified hair geek and I
love the transformation experience that comes with hairdressing and the care
and attention that goes into every hair style. I also enjoy sharing hair care
and product advice. After years of working in an industry that loves to
straighten hair, I am passionate about giving some extra attention to all types
of curly hair and finding a style together that is easy to manage and
maintain.

I am a practicing artist where I focus on making space for marginalised voices
and I aim for my hairdressing practice to do the same, so there are lots of
overlaps! I work with issues of freedom and oppression and always want to find
ways for people to be who they are and who they want to be. Take a look at my
website here! http://www.rachaelyoung.net/
